Verlede week is prof. Deur sommige word hy beskryf as : “He was a towering intellectual, great champion of human rights and unswerving in his commitment to the liberation of South Africa.”

Kader Asmal die volgende uitspraak : “No. I've always believed in a unitary school system, like the German system, but the Constitution says there will be private schools so I have no problem with them. There are many private schools with a Cambridge examination which I have problems with. It's based entirely on an English syllabus, and we're trying to create a South African school system with values that are truly South African.” Prof. Asmal is op rekord dat hy glo aan ’n onderwysstelsel wat onder die beheer van die staat is, terwyl die universele verklaring van menseregte stel : “Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.
